In our last week, we started to practice 2 of the 7 basic legato patterns we learned in the first weeks. So let’s continue now with Pattern 3.
Reminder: Before practicing, make sure to take short breaks and stretch your hands between exercises. Legato requires extra effort to sound clean without picking the notes.
Pattern 3 – Descending Legato Across All Strings
We’ll now apply Pattern 3 across all 6 strings using the G major scale. Notice how this pattern descends through the scale shapes.
Examples 1–7 (30 minutes)
Pattern 4 – Legato Variation
Next, we’ll continue with Pattern 4, again applying it to all 7 scale shapes.
Examples 8–14 (30 minutes)
Wrap-Up
We will continue with more legato patterns next week. Have a good practice!
